By: acne myths
When you are dealing with an acne problem, you want the truth. You want to know the truth behind your acne problem, not a bunch of myths. Sadly, there are many myths out there today and it may be hard to know what to believe. So, here are a few of the most common acne myths that you shouldnt believe and the real truth behind them. Common Myth 1 Acne Doesnt Affect Adults This is a huge myth. Just ask the millions of adults who are dealing with acne today. Many people seem to think that acne is a problem that only teenagers deal with, but acne can last into adulthood and for some adults, they never even experience acne until they are adults. So, while it would be nice for acne to just go away when you reach adulthood, this is not always the case. Common Myth 2 Getting Plenty of Sun Can Help Your Acne Problem Another very common myth that people seem to have it that getting plenty of sun can help you with your acne problem. This is a myth and only a myth. In fact, in reality, the sun can actually end up making your acne worse. Getting too much sun is not great for your skin and it can lead to skin cancer as well as premature aging. The sun can also aggravate your skin making your acne even worse than before. Common Myth 3 The Harsh Soaps Work the Best Dont be fooled into thinking that harsh soaps work the best for treating acne problems; in fact, just the opposite is actually true. The best soaps for your skin are soaps that are gentle and soap free cleansers may even be better for you. So, its actually best to stay away from the harsh soaps and go for soaps that wont dry and irritate your skin. Common Myth 4 Chocolate Will Make Your Acne Worse Too many people just seem to think that chocolate is bad for your acne problem, but this just isnt the case. Chocolate is not going to cause you a problem with acne; however, it is important that you don't eat too much, since what you eat can affect your entire body and health. While chocolate in moderation is not going to cause you an acne problem, it is something that you shouldn't binge on for health reasons. Common Myth 5 Dirt Causes Acne Yet another common myth is that dirt is what causes acne. While it is true that dirt can play a part, acne is actually caused by excess sebum mixing with dead skin cells and bacteria, causing inflammation and clogged pores. So, keep these myths in mind so you know what is really true and what is really false about your acne problem. Knowing the truth is important, so make sure that you find out the truth about any myths before taking them at face value.
