Learning electric guitar is possible for anyone with the desire and determination to play. There are many reasons for learning electric guitar, but first and foremost should be that you enjoy listnening to the instrument. You will need to practice it a lot and will be hearing it a lot.

You will need to choose an instruction method. If you know that you are a motivated, goal-oriented person, capable of learning things on your own, you can save yourself a lot of money by learning electric guitar through online lessons. Most online courses are very structured and thorough. You have the ability to review and repeat lessons and follow take them at your own speed. You will be learning electric guitar at your own pace.





Many people prefer the more traditional, private lesson method of instruction. This has many benefits as well. Teachers often offer words of encouragement and can assure us when we are having difficulty figuring something out that other people had trouble with the same concept. You will be less likely to give up when you have someone else to be accountable to each week. However, private lessons will cost you a lot more.

You will be more successful learning electric guitar when you set up a practice schedule that you can follow. You will want to ensure that you practice fingering exercises, scales, chords and songs everyday. Fingering exercises help keep your fingers strong and enables them to move quickly. Scales encourages you to get correct timing and practice moving your fingers along the strings. Songs are where you put everything together. Songs are the reason for learning electric guitar. Being able to play songs is what makes music fun.

Set up a concert and play guitar for your friends. Learning electric guitar is rewarding, but playing in front of people is challenging. Learning how to play for other people and dealing with the nerves helps you become a better muscian. Setting a goal to play a song for your friends encourages you to practice harder everyday.

Learning electric guitar can be done by anyone. It does take a little time, patience and perseverence. However, it is very rewarding and can provide you with hours of enjoyment once you have mastered some basic skills and learned to play a few of your favorite songs.
