Marine Electronic Products By Lowrance

By: Ted Koppel

There's nothing like spending the day on the water. You have always dreamed about having your own boat - and it has finally come true. Almost as exciting as finally purchasing that boat you've dreamed about for so long is outfitting it with the electronic devices you need to make your days out on the water as fun, safe and comfortable as possible. Lowrance is a marine electronics company that understands this and makes all the marine electronics you need.

The first electronic equipment you should obtain should be safety equipment. A VHF radio is something that will help put your mind at ease as you venture out, knowing you always can radio for help whenever needed. Lowrance offers fixed mount radios like the LVR 880, which features Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and FM radio reception. If you're in the market for a miniature VHF radio, you have a choice between the LHR 80, the LHR 22, and the LHR 20. the LHR 80 is waterproof, floatable, and has a built in GPS receiver. In addition, the LHR 22 is waterproof and it has a Lithium-ion battery. The LHR 20 is very similar to the LHR 22 without the camo detail.

If you live outside North and South America, you can get the Lowrance GlobalMap 5150C full sized GPS chartplotter. It has a GPS+WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) antenna, and a five inch display that offers 640 x 480 resolution. The GlobalMap 4800M, 5200C, and 5300IGPS all have both GPS and WAAS capabilities , and the latter two also have color displays .

There are five full size Lowrance fish finders available. The X136DF is a dual frequency (50/200 kHz) sonar with depth penetration to 2500 feet. The X135 is a fish finder working on signle frequency of 200kHz, which has a five inch square monitor with monochrome 480 by 480 resolution. It can read up to 1000 feet deep. Lowrance's X136DF is dual frequency sonar with high resolution monochrome display that reads up to 1700 feet of depth penetration. The X125 sonar that reads as deep as 900 feet, works at 200kHz frequency and has a monochrome display of five inches. And the X96 is a 200kHz sonar, which is monochrome, has a screen of five inches with 320 x 320 resolution and peak to peak power of 1500 watt.

Lowrance offers a range of compact fish finders as well, with varying features including full color or monochrome display and options like hydrographic mapping. If ice fishing is your thing, then the X67C Ice Machine is a 200kHz sonar fish finder with a carrying bag and a rechargeable batter with a charger.

You can also outfit your boat with a line of Lowrance digital gauges that will display fish finding information, temperature, depth, or multiple readings on one dial.

Lowrance make the marine electronics that help you derive the maximum enjoyment from your boat. With a VHF radio, chartplotter, and fish finder, you'll be ready for whatever awaits you out on your boat.
